This Sunday my cousin from Wasilla, Alaska is playing at Harper’s Ferry.  Not many of you know, but when I was 20yrs old I moved to Alaska for a summer and lived with him and his family. Now that Johnny is all grown up it’s amazing to see how far he has taken his music career. I sang back-up on his latest release Censored Colors although you wouldn’t be able to tell because there are like 5,000 voices on the thing. The band is pretty hard to pin down. It’s At the Drive in, Flaming Lips, Zeppelin, Yes, and the Beach Boys yet Alaskan. Anyway maybe I’ll see some of you on Sunday…

My friend Eric Melen, the hardest hitting drummer from the band Ultimate Fakebook, has a post on his ever popular Scene Stealers Blog about a couple new things that AMC Theaters is doing.

One concept is called Fork and Screen where you can eat, drink, and be merry while watching a film. I’ve seen that concept before, but it could be interesting if it becomes a bigger thing.

The other thing they are doing is what most caught my eye. Eric says ” Cinema Suites comprise the other three theaters, and they cost a little more. The screens are still huge, but the theater only seats 32, and you can reserve a specific seat (unlike Southwest Airlines) by paying beforehand. You get reclining chairs, a swivel table in your lap, and eight feet to stretch out in.”

I like the idea of a private theater you could rent with friends. Check out his blog…

MTV has launched it’s new music site which reminds me a bit of Hulu.com. It allows you to watch all those videos you used to see before The Real World Challenge, The Hills, and Sweet Sixteen turned it into a reality channel.  Maybe they are a little late to the game since you can watch pretty much any video ever made on youtube, but it looks like it could have potential. I’m going to watch some Big Daddy Kane and Redhead Kingpin videos tonight.

Sometimes trying to do something heartfelt for your company is a bad idea.

Forbes Magazine has a great collection of Halloween masks you can print out if your still looking for a costume. Sarah Palin is played out this year, but you can go for her or be creative and get your Ben Bernanke on. I’m definitely going to be Rick Rollin on Friday.
